This week we chat with Agent Assistant, Claire! She walks us through her days of interning in general management and casting offices, as well as her crazy days of stage managing for Sleep No More. Claire now assists at an NYC Talent Agency that represents actors in theater, film, and television. She chats about how being a perfectionist didn't suit her in the acting world, but how it's perfect for her current line of work. We also laugh about Millionaire Matchmaker and other ways to relieve stress if you work in the entertainment biz.
Justin is a dancer with extensive experience in regional theater, cruise lines, and auditioning in New York. We talk EPA/ECCs, dance classes, swing tracks, and audition prep. He works awesome gigs and dreams of Broadway!
We chat with working actor and dad Matt Bailey! He hails from Palo Alto, CA and chats with us about his first survival job as a stage door guard at Studio 54, to understudying, to working on the Jersey Boys tour for 3.5+ years, to recurring on Hulu's The Path! We talk getting better at auditions, how to walk onto your first tv set, taking classes with Bob Krakower, and performing Batboy in a barn!
Julia is a puppeteer! She talks about puppet wrangling, children’s theater, discovering comedy, and living the life of an artist working for the Parks Department of NYC. She’s also a Macy elf! Lots of laughs and getting misty about theater in this episode.
Max shares his journey from dabbling in New Orleans theater to NYC to Williamstown. He was an assistant for a Broadway actor, went through Stella Adler intensive, survived an apprenticeship at the Williamstown Theater Festival, and struggles to stay motivated just like the rest of us.
Sean Kleier comes from a background unlike most our guests. Not convinced arts could be a job – it wasn’t until later he started to pursue. After moving to NY, nabbing a restaurant job, doing open mics, getting looped into the commercial world, his viral video got the attention of an agent. Now Sean is a series regular on Bravo’s Odd Mom Out and chats about all his mistakes as well as his socially conscious side projects.
